
Trina McQueen

Trina McQueen is Adjunct Professor of Broadcast Management at Schulich School of Business. In her 35 year career in television, she has been President and COO of CTV; founding President of the Discovery Channel, and Head of News, Current Affairs and Newsworld for CBC television. She began her career as an on air journalist, and was the first female host of W-5. She has served on the Boards of Directors of CBC, Telefilm, the Canadian Television Fund, and the Advisory Council of the National Film Board.
For her services to Canadian television programming, she has been named an Officer of the Order of Canada. Among other honours, she has received lifetime achievement awards from the Canadian Journalism Foundation, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television and the Banff World Television Festival. The Radio and Television News Directors’ Association named their “Best Program” prize the “Trina McQueen” award.
She is currently on the Boards of The Banff Centre for the Arts, the Canadian Opera Company, the Historica Dominion Institute and McClelland and Stewart publishers.
Announcing her recent election to the Canadian Movie and Television Hall of Fame, Playback magazine described her as “nice” She is trying not to let this go to her head.
