
Michael Hennessy
Senior Vice-President, Government and Regulatory Affairs

Michael Hennessy is currently Senior Vice-President, Regulatory and Government Affairs and in that position is responsible for the overall direction of TELUS’s regulatory strategies. Prior to that he was Vice-President, Wireless, Broadband and Content Policy for TELUS and had responsibility for its public policy and regulatory strategies in areas of spectrum management, evolving internet content matters and for TELUS’ IP-based (IPTV) broadcast distribution business. He is currently a member of the Board and Vice Chair of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association (CWTA), the Chair of the Banff World Television Festival Board, and the chair of the Smart Regulation Committee of the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC).
Prior to his work with TELUS, Mr. Hennessy served as President and CEO of the Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association (CCTA). Mr. Hennessy was also a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Canadian Television Fund.
Michael Hennessy began his career in the public sector, leaving it in 1995 after serving as Director General, Competition, Convergence and Social Policy in the Telecommunications Branch of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).
