OTA Broadcast Licence Renewals: What's at Stake for Producers and Creators?
The CRTC will hold a public hearing this spring to examine the licence renewal applications of the private over-the-air television broadcast groups, such as CTV, Global, and Citytv. It’s been more than seven years since the Commission last conducted a major review of the broadcasters’ business plans and regulatory obligations. Given the significant consolidation that has occurred in the sector since then, are the broadcasters making appropriate contributions to Canadian programming that are commensurate with their current size and power? How will the current difficult economic climate play a role in the discussion? Our panel of industry leaders from the production and creative industries will discuss the key issues from their perspective.
