Excellence in Producer Training Continues in Atlantic Canada

Ottawa, April 30, 2010 – The Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) is pleased to announce that the Atlantic Mentorship Program will once again be offered after three tremendously successful years. This regional program is gearing up to offer another seven exceptional placements in three of the Atlantic provinces.

Supported by Film Nova Scotia, Telefilm Canada, the Government of New Brunswick, and the Newfoundland & Labrador Film Development Corporation, this professional development program offers paid job placements for emerging and mid-level filmmakers with CFTPA member companies in the Atlantic region. These 22 week placements will increase their potential for career advancement in the production sector while helping to foster the growth of Atlantic Canada’s screen-based entertainment industry.

“Training programs with a regional focus are designed to respond to specific needs and to address unique challenges and skills shortages”, said Susanne Vaas, VP of Business Affairs, CFTPA. “The Atlantic Mentorship Program has proven itself to provide a valuable professional development opportunity in the region. Trainees participating in this program have access to the best producer mentors who can help take their careers to the next level.”

The Atlantic Mentorship Program is currently accepting applications with the deadline set for July 5, 2010. Placements are scheduled to start this summer. For application details and eligibility, visit www.cftpa.ca/mentorship.

The CFTPA is a non-profit trade organization that works on behalf of almost 400 companies engaged in the production and distribution of English-language television programs, feature films, and interactive media productions in all regions of Canada.
