CFTPA Youth Internship Program in Production Now Open for Applications

July 7, 2009, Ottawa – The Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) is proud to announce the return of its youth internship program, the National Production Program. The program will offer fifteen placements across Canada for post-secondary graduates between the ages of 15-30 years.

Funded by the Government of Canada’s Career Focus program within the Youth Employment Strategy, the National Production Program offers meaningful work experience in the film, television and interactive media production industry. The program enables emerging professionals to develop skills, gain exposure and contacts, and make a successful integration into the labour market. The program is an exciting opportunity for companies to contribute to their industry by sharing valuable knowledge and expertise, and providing youth the opportunity to develop life and employment skills through hands-on experience.

“The program prides itself on providing essential support to young producers who are new to the business, giving them the opportunity to work at an active independent production company and to pair their academic knowledge with on-the-job training,” said Susanne Vaas, VP of Business Affairs, CFTPA. “We would not be able to provide them with such an excellent opportunity in breaking into this very competitive field without the Government of Canada’s support, which we - and the industry - are very grateful for.”

The National Production Program is currently accepting applications with the deadline set for August 10, 2009. For application details and eligibility, visit www.cftpa.ca/mentorship .

The CFTPA is a non-profit trade organization that works on behalf of almost 400 companies engaged in the production and distribution of English-language television programs, feature films, and interactive media productions in all regions of Canada.
