CFTPA announces the six successful placements within the Telefilm Producer Trainee Program

Ottawa, July 7, 2009 – The Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) is proud to announce this year’s trainees in the Telefilm Producer Trainee Program

In partnership with Telefilm Canada, the program gives members of visible minority groups and people of aboriginal descent the opportunity to gain above-the-line production experience. The program emphasizes one-on-one mentoring in a production environment, creating enhanced professional development opportunities for emerging and mid-level professionals. Their on-the-job training creates employment prospects, gives participants production credits, solidifies their skills, and allows them to compete for mid-level positions in the sector.

“Helping forge relationships between established companies and developing producers is key to building a sustainable industry,” said Susanne Vaas, VP of Business Affairs, CFTPA. “We are pleased to be able to collaborate with Telefilm Canada on such an invaluable program.”

“Telefilm is pleased to be a partner of this initiative,” stated Agnes Zak, Regional Director, Business Development, Telefilm Canada (Ontario & Nunavut Regions). “It is one of Telefilm’s corporate goals to support emerging talent in this region and this program helps us achieve this.”

The following six placements were awarded:
Bogart Productions with Tihemme Gagnon (Edmonton)
Conquering Lion Pictures with Maya Annik Despres-Bedward (Toronto)
EyeSteelFilm with Bachir Boumediene (Montreal)
Joe Media Group with Romina Imani (Calgary)
Minds Eye Entertainment with Becki Hui (Regina)
Screen Siren Pictures with Hyden Wazelle (Vancouver)
