Liz Shorten to join BC Producers’ Branch

Vancouver, June 29, 2009--- The Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) is pleased to announce that Liz Shorten will be taking on the newly created role of Managing Vice-President, Operations and Member Services in the B.C. office, effective July 6th. 

“Liz brings a wealth of experience to our Vancouver office,” says Norm Bolen, President and CEO, CFTPA. “She is well-known to our B.C. members and
just the person to knowledgeably serve their interests.”

Ms. Shorten joins the CFTPA-BC after two years at Media Skillset Consulting where she designed and delivered strategic initiatives to address gaps, challenges, and opportunities in the film, television and new media sectors.

An accomplished decision-maker with a strong record of success, Ms. Shorten has worked as Partnerships Executive at CBC British Columbia, Manager, Marketing and Communications at British Columbia Film and Manager, Corporate Development at the Ontario Film Development Corporation.

In June 2006, Liz was recipient of the Women in Film Wayne Black Service Award in honour of her "behind-the scenes" work in support of the film and television industry in BC. Liz will be playing a key role for the B.C. Branch by liaising with the BC production community, government officials and funding agencies. The CFTPA is a non-profit, trade association representing almost 400 companies in the Canadian production industry. The association promotes the general interests of Canadian producers by lobbying government on policy matters, negotiating labour agreements, and offering mentorship programs and copyright initiatives.
