CFTPA Offers Mentorship Program for the Next Generation of Producers in Atlantic Canada

May 6, 2009, Ottawa –The Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA) is proud to announce the renewal of the Atlantic Mentorship Program for 2009-2010. After two tremendously successful years, this regional program is gearing up to offer another seven exceptional placements in three of the Atlantic provinces.

Supported by Telefilm Canada, Film Nova Scotia, New Brunswick Film, and the Newfoundland & Labrador Film Development Corporation, this professional development program offers paid job placements for emerging and mid-level filmmakers with CFTPA member companies in the Atlantic region. These 6 month placements will increase their potential for career advancement in the production sector while helping to foster the growth of Atlantic Canada’s screen-based entertainment industry.

“What makes this program truly unique is the emphasis placed on the one-on-one mentoring aspect”, said Susanne Vaas, VP of Business Affairs, CFTPA. “The trainees participating in this program have access to the best producer mentors in the Atlantic who can help take their careers to the next level.”

“Atlantic Canada’s production industry must continuously add to its pool of skilled and driven producers,” said Gordon Whittaker, Regional Director – Business Development & Regional Feature Film Executive for Telefilm Canada in Halifax. “Telefilm considers its support of the CFTPA Mentorship Program to be a strategic investment in the regional industry’s continued growth and success.”
