Member Meeting National Tour Update
The CFTPA has successfully completed the first two member meetings and industry receptions in Halifax and St John's. A presentation outlining the challenges facing the independent production sector, the long term goals of the CFTPA, and the immediate initiatives of the Board and Staff, was followed by an enthusiastic discussion with members on CFTPA policy and future direction.
Ira Levy, Chair, Board of Directors and Guy Mayson, President and CEO answered questions and discussed issues ranging from broadcast relations to members services to terms of trade and long term production financing issues. Documentary production concerns and Paul Pope’s Regional Task Force were also discussed at length. Board members Steven Comeau in Halifax and Mary Sexton and Paul Pope in St John’s hosted receptions after each member meeting where industry stakeholders could mix and mingle with CFTPA members.
"I'm very pleased with the enthusiastic response and overall turnout in Halifax and St John's," said Ira Levy, Chair of the Board of Directors. "Hearing directly from our members on issues that affect them in their region will help us focus our priorities as we address the many challenges ahead."
The next leg of our tour brings us to Edmonton on Tuesday August 15th and Calgary on Wednesday August 16th. We look forward to meeting with CFTPA members and industry colleagues in these cities to discuss regional or national issues facing the independent production sector.
