Producers welcome CTF changes and renewed funding for 2006-2007
The Canadian Film and Television Production Association is pleased with the future plans for the Canadian Television Fund which features extending $100 million in federal funding for 2006-2007, and will give the industry and government the opportunity to strengthen its organization and ability to establish the long term funding possibilities for the CTF.
“Independent producers have been fighting for simplification of the CTF which would put more money into production and less in to administration. Now we can make it work by getting more Cancon on our screens,” said Guy Mayson, CEO and president, CFTPA.
The CFTPA also welcomes the clarification of the governance of the Fund and the enhanced role of the CTF board for management and accountability. The public-private partnership has been vital to the growth of the domestic Canadian content industry and is considered an essential component of the diverse home-grown production industry.
The CFTPA is a non-profit, trade association representing almost 400 companies in the Canadian production industry. The association promotes the general interests of Canadian producers by lobbying government on policy matters, negotiating labour agreements, and offering mentorship programs and copyright initiatives.
