Wood to join CFTPA B.C. Producers' Branch
Tracey Wood will be the new director of Industrial and External Relations at the Canadian Film and Television Production Association B.C. Producers’ Branch. As former legal counsel to The Union of B.C. Performers/ACTRA, Wood will be bringing seven years of valued experience in labour relations, mediation and conflict resolution.
"Tracey’s knowledge and expertise will help the B.C. Branch deal with the complex issues currently facing the industry," said Julia Keatley, chair, B.C. Producers’ Branch.
"I’ve sat across the bargaining table from Tracey and I’m glad she’s sitting on our side now. Her wealth of experience in labour relations and arbitrations are huge bonuses for B.C. producers," said Neil Haggquist, vice-president of the CFTPA’s BC Branch.
Prior to her work with the actors’ union, Wood served as legal counsel at The Toronto Musicians’ Association. Wood will be involved in negotiating all five B.C. collective agreements with actors, directors, performers and technicians. She will ultimately serve as a resource for members on production practices and contract interpretation. Wood will also be playing a key role for the B.C. Branch by liaising with the B.C. production community, government officials and funding agencies.
Wood will be starting her new position at the end of May and can be reached at wood@cftpa.ca, (866) 390-7639(604) 682-8619, ext. 224.
The CFTPA is a non-profit, trade association representing almost 400 companies in the Canadian production industry. The association promotes the general interests of Canadian producers by lobbying government on policy matters, negotiating labour agreements, and offering mentorship programs and copyright initiatives.
