The CFTPA actively lobbies the federal and provincial governments on behalf of its membership, the independent production industry.
The association does not merely focus on its funding and tax simplification agenda; it also influences the decision-making process on regulatory issues that deal with broadcasting, copyright and trade. The CFTPA liaises with the departments of Canadian Heritage, Industry, Finance, Foreign Affairs and International Trade to ensure producers' voices are heard.
The CFTPA appears before essential standing committees to give insight in the development of legislation; when required it commissions extensively researched studies. The association also appears regularly before the CRTC to comment on broadcast applications, as well as the Commission's policies and regulations.
